Title: can i move readout display on 998

Is there anyway to move, shrink, or change the left side bar display on my 998c SI?  It makes the screen so much smaller especially when using split screen views.  Makes me regret not getting the 1198.......thanks for any help......

There is nothing that you can do in the split screens to shrink this area.
While in the full Si View you can go into the Sonar menu tab and set the “SI Readouts” menu to the “Off” setting.

How do you remove the readout COG that appears on the left hand side?

That depends on which unit you are talking about, the software version in it and – more importantly – which View you are using and whether you are using the GOTO function or not.  You can go into the Select readouts menu and set that digital readout location to display something else (or nothing).  If it is not showing as being selected in the Select Readouts menu, than it is being displayed by default according to the View you are using and if you are using the GOTO function (travelling to a waypoint).  If this is the case than it could only be changed by a change to the unit’s software.

  I am having same problem with cog  and xte i can not get it to go away i changed settings and when i use map it changes and i can no longer see any depth or speed or temp readings i have current software updates  and running 999 .. had unit for year and just started some times it changes when just using sonar  is very annoying i need depth info ect  what can i do?? i tried factory default no good.

Under the setup tab there are 2 different readout tabs. One for Navigation and the other for other functions. There are some items in the navigation tab that cannot be removed. Bob

Here is the info I have on which readout boxes can be changed on certain views ...

800/900 Readouts

NAVIGATION:
1-Customize
2-Fixed: Heading
3-Fixed: Bearing
4-Fixed: Split: Cross Track Error(XTE) and Distance To Go (DTG)
5-Fixed: Split: Time To Go (TTG) and Speed

CHART:
1-Customize
2-Fixed: Heading
3-Fixed: Customize
4-Customize
5-Fixed: Speed

BIRDS EYE VIEW:
1-4 Fixed with Depth, Heading, Position, Speed
5-customize

SONAR VIEWS:
1-5 Customize
