Title: Dimensions of 1197
Post by: wrktoomuch on October 13, 2012, 06:03:54 PM
As hard as I have searched, I can't find the outside dimensions of the 1100 series units. I have bought a new boat and am looking to flush mount. First I need to know if it will fit and secondly, how big is the hole necessary to flush mount it. While I'm asking, what would be the best and flatest thru hole SI transducer as it will be trailered.

This should be what you are looking for
                        Advertised Product Dimensions 8.8"H x 13.1"W x 2.9"D

The Product Dimensions agree with the physical measurement of my 1197 unit.

There is approximately a 3/4" lip around the unit which has 4 mounting inserts the dimension of this part is approximately 7 1/4" x 11 3/4"

Hope this helps.

Thank you George. I take it yours is not flush mounted. I have a 11w x 9h panel. I had hoped to get away with a 1197 but will probably not be able to overhang it. My 997 is just 11" wide. I thought the only difference might be the height.

No my units are mounted on Gimbals with Ram mounts.  This lets me move the units around to get the best viewing.

I have a small unit HB 728 unit which is flush mounted and is connected to a Thru Hull transducer which works fine for running the lake.

WRK, we flush mounted our 1197.  We made our own behind the plate mounting bracket.  It is not too difficult to do. Just 2 screws to fit the 1197 and 2 l brackets to secur to the undeside of the plate.
But of course we had room to work on the mounting area..so nothing got in the way.

I wish I had the room for the 1197. The control panel on the boat is 11 wide x 9 high with gauges and rocker switches very close to it. Above the panel is the compass. I don't want to butcher a brand new boat being the first new boat I've ever owned.

WRK, I can understand that. Probably the gimble might be your best bet.
