Title: Humminbird 788c screen problem
Post by: DavidP2190 on August 27, 2012, 10:03:34 AM
Hey everyone, I have a problem with my Humminbird 788c.  It was working fine the last time I used it a few weeks ago but now when I power on the screen starts white and fades to black.  Sometimes it stays half white half black, I can't see any menus or anything but I can hear the buttons doing things, and I can power off normally so it's not frozen.  Also when it starts up I can vaguely see gos coordinates in the corner but they don't stay.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem is?

It doesn't look good.
I would first check all my connections and load test the battery.

I had to send my 1197 back to Humminbird twice:
The first time, the screen was blinking off and on.
The second time, the screen went so dark that it was unusable.

If the battery checks good (you could hook it up to another battery temporarily to test it) I would contact the Humminbird Customer Resource folks about getting it sent in to be looked at as it look like something in the backlighting went out.

Forgot to update this, was no big problem.  Battery was just on its last legs.  New battery now, everything back to normal.  :)
