I added a file to the Downloads section of the web site that has step-by-step directions on how to add personalized text to the start-up screen of your Humminbird unit using a memory card and the 4.3.3 version of HumminbirdPC.

After you do all the steps, when you load the card into the unit does it save in the units memory or do you have to keep the card in all the time for the unit to display this?
Thanks. RH

Hi, does this still work on new helix units?
If so, I have two SD slots and two cards in it. Both have PROFILE.TXT on them. If I change PROFILE.TXT files through Humminbird PC on firs one, will be the second one changed by unit? Just don't want to experiment on my unit, I have bad experience with 598 which developed strange fault. It refuses to save settings and also custom text is somehow set to version 10 years back with no chance to change it. This fault appears just after I add custom text. I'm thinking if this is coincidence, or I screw something on 598, and now it can't rewrite its memory. Even resetting to default does not help. It loads default, but after reboot, I'm back in my settings from 10 years ago. The same is true for custom text.

My first questions would be …
What unit do you have and what 2 cards do you have in the unit (2 map cards, 2 SD Cards, 1 map card and 1 SD Card) ... ??
