Title: my 898c si is super slow!
Post by: fubmaster on July 28, 2012, 02:53:05 PM
I have an 898 si with about 1100 waypoints loaded in it and it pans super slow! What I mean is that on the map screen I want to use the cursor to pan to a waypoint and hit the goto button.  Doing this has major lag! I mean really bad!  Anyone know of a fix? I'm only using one of the sd slots.

The way point management software contained in the most recent firmware version for you unit will allow you to group your way points and hide those you don't need.  I would suggest grouping your way points by lake and then hiding all of the way points for all of the lakes other than the one you are currently fishing.  That should help speed things up.

It could be the version of the software you are running.
I upgraded my 1197c with the most current version and it slowed down
so bad, it wasn't useable.

I went back to a previous version and it speeded right up.

I would recommend you bring your waypoints into Humminbird PC.
Go through and see if you have any dups or if any of the coordinates look weird.
A corrupted waypoint could be the culprit.
Humminbird says that by bringing the waypoints into Humminbird PC software, it
verifies or confirms them.
