Title: different between transducers

i have the 798ci hd si combo . what is the dirrerent between the xnt 9 si 180 t and the xhs 9 hdsi 180 . it looks like have the xnt 9 si 180 t. i have looked up on the two but i like for someone to explain it to me. it looks like my transducer is not hd, but i have a hd unit. does this mean i need to upgrade or i didn't get the right transducer? when i purchased the unit i didn't receive the transducer mount, but humminbird sent me at no charge(thank you). i want to get the best out of my unit as i can. any and all advice would be great.

river life, start at the plug end of the transducer cable and look for a yellow mark on the yellow mark note the type of transducer it is.

The XNT-9-Si-180-T (CSi) transducer is the correct transducer for the 798ci HD Si unit although the XHS-9-HDSi-180-T (HDSi) can be used in its place.

Basically the difference is that the HDSi transducer uses a longer set of Si elements inside of it that allow for more detailed 455kHz Si sonar as well as allowing it to work at 800kHz.  The CSi transducer uses shorter Si elements so it’s 455kHz Si sonar has less detail and cannot produce the 800kHz.  No problem though because your 798ci HD Si unit cannot produce the 800kHz sonar either.  Connecting your 798ci HD Si unit up to an HDSi transducer would not allow it to use the 800kHz Si sonar but it would have better detail in the 455kHz Si sonar – though some people cannot see this difference on the smaller display of the 798 units.

The “HD” designation for the 798 units was to denote that they are using a best-in-class display.  No one else is using a five inch display that has as many pixels.  It is also an easier way for us to know that you have a unit that has an Ethernet connection.

The “HD” designation for the XHS-9-HDSi-180-T transducer was used to denote that it used a higher definition frequency set for the Si sonar than did the first generation XHS-9-Si-160-T transducer that we produced.
