Title: using an extention cable with out a transducer connected.
Post by: sonar2000 on July 17, 2012, 06:41:22 PM

Disconnecting the 2D transducer from an AS-Si-DB-Y cable may cause arching of the 2D transmitter and unit failure…
Just to side step for a minute...

Greg, a while back you had posted that running a transmitter on a long cable without the transducer was not going to hurt the unit.
Has this changed since the post?
Are we now to ensure that we dont have extention cables without a transducer??

Difficult to answer question here Chuck as it depends on which model unit you are talking about… As a general rule I would not run a unit with only a transducer extension cable connected (no transducer connected to the extension cable).

OK, just trying to get a standard.
So we can run without a transducer connected but not if we have a cable in place.

Thanks, chuck
