Title: working with the HM unit off the boat
Post by: xcfranko on June 24, 2012, 12:23:43 PM
Hello,
First posting for me...hope the question is not too often repeated.

What is the best way to work with the unit off the boat?  How do I power it?  Any special settings?

Thanks in advance...

A lot of us use a 110v power converter.

The converter that I have been using is from Digi-Key. it is made by CUI, Inc. Model HK-H1-A12, PRI - 100 -240V 50 - 60 Hz 0.8A SEC 12V=0 -2.5A (set at 2.0A).

This is the information on my converter which was recommended to me 3 years ago and I have been using it without any problems.

There are a lot of different converters used with success, you may want to search this site for them, they only thing I know is that amp output is important along with the voltage.

Make sure you use the recommended fuse (3 amps) on the power sides 3.

I also have a spare GPS and transducer that I use to play with the system.  Most of my updates are done in the house and I do go through the mapping programs in the house.

To view my recordings I use HumViewer and look at them on my computer.
