I just purchased a 798ci hd si unit for my center console. My use will be in salt water mainly from 20 to 75 feet of water and i was wondering if anyone has any pointers on where to start with the settings for the SI and DI as far as gain, contrast, and which color shows the best definition. This is my first time using side imaging and I can already see it is very cool. What I am looking to be able to identify clearly is bottom structure mainly rocky bottom vs sand. I have already been able to use it to see submerged pilings and things show up pretty good but I was hoping for some help to simplify the learning curve. Also when using the 2D sonar is it better to use the max mode or clear mode max mode seems kind of cluttered to me.
Thanks for any help,
Jason

Blue runs the best IMO for detail. Run all the oem settings and you will be good. Maybe some minor adjustments from there once you get use to it.

Thanks for the reply, it will take some getting used to but I think I am going to like it.
