I have an 1198 unit. I'm happy with the unit except for problems I'm experiencing with the view preset keys. When I select one of the presets, the unit apparently thinks I'm depressing the key longer than I actually am. This has the effect of overwriting my desired preset with whatever the last screen was. I've tried modifying my press approach without any success. Initially I thought this problem was specific to the uppermost preset key, but when experimenting my last trip out, found that all the keys will occasionally do it. I was considering doing an upgrade to the latest firmware, but there seems to be a fair amount of negative feedback relative to this version. The unit has a Navionics Hot Maps Platinum East Region SD card installed; I noticed while it was loading the map information, it was much more likely for this problem to surface. However it is still a common occurance at any time during operation. I didn't get any hits when I searched the forum, so I'm wondering if this problem may be unique to my hardware. Anyone else seen this issue? Thoughts?

jr.....there are postings on the keypads. Some have had to send back to HB for replacement of the keypad.
Have you called customer support to open the problem with them. also ask for a return lable if they agree to have it sent back.

I have the same problem with my 998...The pre set buttons and the power button has issues as well....Its always been there I just live with it... :-\
