Title: Interference On 1198
Post by: calli1 on May 22, 2012, 03:01:47 PM
Ok folks...I...like some have interference on my Humminbird 1198 when I hit my trolling motor power switch/button.    This only shows as it seems on my side and down image views.  Any suggestions ?  Please .....

Start off with putting your sonar on a battery with nothing else hooked to it.
Then, make sure you route the sonar wires away from the trolling motor wires, and
your main engine wires.
If the wires have to contact each other, then place them at right angles like a cross.

Then go from there with other methods to reduce/eliminate interference.

I think I have it taken care of now.  Reduced Sensitivity down to 8 to 10, noise settings to low from high 3 and a couple of other settings changed.  Just checking it out in my driveway...it doesn't show the interference on the screen now.  We shall see and if it continues to do so, I will run a groundwire from metal on trolling motor to Neg. Term. on Cranking battery.  Wish me luck and the connectors are good.
