I have a humminbird 998 depthfinbder. I have an all electric boat that goes about 6.3mph and when I run the motor on the back the Left side of the side imaging is cluttered and you cant make out anything on the screen, and when i move the transducer to the right side the right side of the screen becomes fuzzy and cluttered. It is like this even when I run the motor on slower speeds just not as cluttered but still hard to read. And when I run the trolling motor the screen becomes clearer but the problemis im not moving fast enough to produce quality images adn cover alot of water that way. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Here is a picture of what my screen looks like.

Sounds like electrical motor interference. Do a search and look for troubleshooting tips on trolling motor or RF interference on this web site.
-
This is occurring when the trolling motor is off and I'm using my 48volt main motor. Which the depth finder is separate from.
-
Still that 48 volt main motor could be throwing off RF interference which is affecting both the 2D and Si sonar; so the same fixes may work.

Thanks, I hooked up my unit and looked at the noise filter and mine was on the off setting so I turned it on and we will see if that helps.

Hey,
It's a small world.
I have an electric only boat also.
Do you have a Ray 48 volt?
You say your deph finder is separate from, but how is it separate?
If you've got your sonar hooked to one of the four 12-volt batteries
that power your big electric, then that's a big no no.
Also, your sonar wires may be too close to the wires for your big electric.
I know you don't need any additional batteries, but get a small marine
battery just for your sonar.
Try and run the sonar wires away from your motor wires and
you will be good to go.
