What does the option on the lakemaster chip Depth Color really do?
I know it adjusts from 0-10, and makes depths a dark blue. I haven't seen
a good explanation of what this feature does

Well that's what it does...it allows you to change the water color on your screen to make viewing easier. This is very helpful at night when I change the water column to dark blue which is easier to see. Then when I'm out during the day, I'll need to lighten up the water color especially if it's really bright out. I hope this answered your question.

Two things: "Depth Color" is a Humminbird function, not a LakeMaster function and it is a color control for the map view, not the water column (sonar view). It adds or deletes more shades of blue, whatever suits your eye.
