Hello new to humminbird
I bought a new to me boat and have an 1197c SI and trying to figure it out. I have what I believe is the side img. Ducer on the back and two ducers shoot through hull (glass boat). I have the box and some accessory boxes as well “advanced system side imaging Y cable” and a “in hull puck ducer XP 920 T” are the accessories. My question is I can go through the sonar menu tab and select Transducer Select then I select Dual Beam PLUS which I think is the “XP 920 T” and I have 200/83 KHZ 20/60 degree on the 1197 but when I press the view button no sidescan . If I select the Sidescan I have sidescan and I think 200KHZ 20 degree cone does this sound right?? If I use sidescan ,one puck and sidescan are being used ,and if I use dual beam plus the other puck is just being used?? Is there a way to use the dual beam and side scan at same time?? Thanks ahead I know I will have more Q’s as I go on

I don't know much about these multiple transducers
and y-cables.
Greg will have to help you.

First off, you can download the manual from HB's site, this will help, also there is Doug Vahrenberg's 9 part seminar plus a bunch of other videos, the seminars are towards the bottom. ---> http://www.dougvahrenberg.com/Videos.html (http://www.dougvahrenberg.com/Videos.html) <---
I believe that if you are using a "Y" cable the Sidescan, 200/83 if selected in the menu and downscan will be working. The screen choices should include 2D, Downscan and Sidescan as one screen. My guess is that whatever 2D image is selected it should show up in one of the three screens. If you have a switch then you only get that transducer. The Sidescan transducer has 2D, Sidescan and Downscan in the same transducer, so you may have to set up which information you want to see.
I strongly recommend you spend some time and view the videos they will help you with fine tuning your set up. Also as you learn more about your unit do not hesitate to ask questions, it helps all of us.

As George said. Ask questions on the forum.
There are a lot of very knowledgable guys here with experience and willing to share this with you.
Folks here have been users of HB for a while and understand the products sometime even better than HB themselves.
There is no dumb question here.

I think if the "Y" cable is used (and the unit is set to Hi-def sidescan) the 2d is automatically "overridden" from the Hi def xducer and comes from the thru hull puck with no other settings needed to be changed...
