Hey guys i just ordered a th marine pro-jacker jack plate for my boat... the boat is a 1996 Javelin 379 se with a 150 Evinrude also a 1996... just wondering if anybody could give me a starting point for "tweaking" once i get it installed... its a 6" setback with 4" of vertical adjustment... My engine is already 2.25" off the transom and the boat runs anywhere between 58-62mph(GPS) now... My prop is 14 1/4" X 24" stainless steel... I am hoping to gain some speed and holeshot performance... this will be my first time using a jack plate so any help, tips, advice, pointers etc. would be greatly appriceated... i won't be installing for another two weeks....
Thanks

This may not be the best forum to ask jackplate questions.
Maybe a bass forum would be better.
So, your boat goes 62 mph and that's not fast enough for you?
I don't know much about them, but with only 4" of vertical travel.
I'd say to start with the thing as high as possible and record the speed.
Then, move it down 1" at at time and record the speed.
Once you get the best inch speed, you may be able to tweak it up or down a little.
You may not have considered this, but this thing may slow down your boat too.

Yeah i figured i would throw it out there, just with the thinking that there may be a couple of guys on here with bass boats that had them... i wouldn't care if it slowed me down a little bit but i need to get my rpms and holeshot performance a little better and a manual jack plate is 1/4 the cost of a new stainless prop.... :)
