I searched and couldn't find the answer to this ???. I just installed a 898c si in my boat, registered and seen four available downloads. My question is will this unit work without downloading any of the available downloads? or is one or more them needed for basic functions, side imaging etc. I would really like to get to know the unit before downloading if possible. Thanks for any assistance.

It will work without upgrade but there are some fixes in the 6.180....
If you follow the direction on upgrading you should be fine.
1) Power on your unit
2) Restore Factory defaults
3) power off the unit
4) put in the sd card
5) power on the unit
6) wait until the update is done (can take a bit for the 26 mb file)
7) restore factory defaults (again)
remove card
I would suggest upgrading and then go ahead with learning the unit..
You can download the 6.180 here on the forum under downloads..

Thank you, So with the download you suggested is there any reason to download any of the others that are on the HB registration site or will this do it all?
Thanks again,

The latest contain the previous also.
Download from HB and you will see the long name file.
On this forum it is either the long name or the 6.180. I put both there for the time being..but they are the same..

OK, so I installed the sd card, got the prompt for the download, started it and its been over an hour no completed prompt, is that normal? suggestons?
So in my haste I didn't read the prompt, just pushed yes.....that aborts the update :-[oops
Reloaded it and no problems. ;D

OK, just curious..
Take some time and just play.
Then later you can show us some fish.. ;D
