Title: Stripping line from reels

 I was cleaning the garage and getting all the stuff back in the boat I took out last fall. And got to my rods half of which I take the reels off of during winter storage. And as I'm taking the line off the first reel by hand I thought there's gotta be a faster way. :-\ I looked over to the work bench and there was my cordless drill and a Allen wrench "Wallaa" instant line stripper ;D Cut the job down by 3\4 good luck and good fishing :)

Fast yet save those emtpy TP cardboard tubes and paper towl cardboard tubes and use them.  They will slip over the chuck of your cordless drill with a nice tight fit (Most drill chucks anyways.)  Since they are much larger diameter than anything you can put into the chuck the line will come off your reels that much fast.  Plus you were going to toss the tube in the garbage anyways...

Wolfs...if you have time take a picture. I can see the roll over the drill chuck and that make good sense also.

I have no reels to strip right now but keep a few of these laying around in the garage for when the time comes around...  They just slip over the chuck with a light push and stay on for the intended purpose.  Slip off and toss once full of line.

 Oh man I'm jealous your drill is yellow:) Sweet now I'll have to stash a few of those. Emtpy rolls ;)

I have a drawer for the rolls.  What a great idea.

Same can be done with a piece of dowel rod as well.  I cut a slit several inches down the length of it so it is easy to start the line in.  When I am done I slip off and cut the line into the garbage.  Nice thing about using a dowel rod is that it is multi-purposed: slip a piece of sandpaper in there and it can sand the inside of a hole as well.

The larger the  diameter of the rod/paper roll the quicker it will come off.
Depends on how much line is to come off..

Yes Chuck but what is more likely that you will have in your man-cave: an empty toilet paper roll or a piece of dowel rod that you also use for something else?

I would hate to use a dowel rod as a substitute for rolled paper.. ;D
