Post by: Southbound on April 09, 2012, 06:35:47 PM
So I moved my trans down a little to see if I can pick up depth on a plane. didnt work.  My SI was working fine till I planed out went I came to idle the left side of the SI was very grainy..

Southbound,
You should also try lowering the backend of your transducer downwards just a little bit and test it again to see if it helps or not.  Typically you have to get the transducer down below the level of air-mixed water that comes off the hull of the boat for it to read at higher boat speeds.  Alternately if you can do so without affecting the Si sonar: you can move the transducer backwards away from the boat by adding some sort of a spacer to get the transducer into cleaner air bubble-free water.

As for the left side Si being grainy: make sure that there is nothing now blocking the left Si sonar and make sure that the transducer is not twisted (has a clockwise twist when viewed from behind).  Other than that, unless you damaged the left side of the transducer you should be getting the same image quality off of it that you did before lowering the transducer.

My ducer has a habit of picking up leaves and blocking one side or both.
