Hi all,
Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, but I have a 768 and I'd like to move a set of waypoints that I created in Google Earth and translated into .hwr with GPSBabel.
I opened the waypoints in HumminbirdPC and transferred them to my SD card. I cannot figure out, however, to use these waypoints on the card with my 768. Is there a way to do this, or do i have to buy a data cable so I can load them directly from humminbirdPC into the unit?
Thanks,
Matt

If your 798 has a sd card slot I think all you have to do it put the card in your unit..

Hi, thanks for the reply. The unit is a 768, and it does have a SD card slot. When I transfer the waypoints, a folder on the card is created called "Matrix" but I'm unable to see the waypoints on the unit when I start it with the card inserted. I know it "sees" the card because i have updated the software from it. It's a 2GB card, if that makes a difference.
Thanks,
Matt

Matt, the 2gig is what we use so that should be ok..
Is there an import selection on the navigation menu...?

I figured it out. I created a new group (the default is Home) and moved the waypoints to that (on the SD card)Then, when I put it in the unit, the unit prompted me to import the new data.
Thanks for the help.

good job Matt. So once you created the new group it went automatically.
this makes it easier..
Do you want to put this into articles and tutorials making it easier to find?

I think the trick was inserting the SD card with the head unit already running. Previously I had been inserting the card and then powering on the unit. When I did the latter, I'd get a message saying that the software on the SD card was the same as in the unit, so no update was required. When I insert the card with the unit already powered, I get the same message, but then I get a message asking if I want to import the navigational data on the card. I answered "Yes" to this message, and was able to view and access my waypoints. I hope this helps someone in the future.
Thanks again,
Matt

OK, glad you figured it out.
I guess for software updates you start with the unit off and then put in the card..
For waypoints leave the unit on and insert the card.
Thanks for all your work.. ;D... :D
