Title: Can't select the transducer on the 788ci DI !
Post by: laurin_ch on April 06, 2012, 02:45:19 PM
Hey guys

I recently purchased a QuadraBeam Transducer for my 788ci DI.  I tried everything to get to the "transducer select"-tab but I just can't find it.  Am I stupid? The system is on the newest software available.
Thanks for your help.

I think this last release of code put some stuff in a different place. Will look around  for it.
Make sure you have advanced mode set to on.

You can stop looking – and it isn’t a software mistake.
The DI units (788ci D among them) does not have this menu because there is only one transducer type that works with this transducer: the DI transducer (either the transom, inside-the-hull or trolling motor version).

The 788ci DI unit was never meant to work with the QuadraBeam transducer but the (non-DI) 788ci unit is and has that menu.

Good point Greg.  See how easy it is to confuse similiar models..

Maybe the next generation will not have closely similiar names..

Remember the old days when you bought a ford, chevy or buick...Look at them today.. ;D :o

Part of the confusion here was that there was a statement in the first version of the operations manual that said that the 788ci DI units had the QuadraBeam menu option.  The current version has been corrected.

There may not have nee the confusion if the model names were not so similar and the fact that they (all the 788 models) now use the same operations manual…
