Hi guys,
I bit the bullet and did it anyway and ALL!! went well ;D ;D ;D.
There doesn't seem to be any difference between the first 6.180 update for the 898 and the third 6.180 update but mine is a single stand-alone unit and is not connected to Ethernet or interlink...Maybe oneday but the HB units here in Oz are about twice what you guys pay in the U.S, and the only difference now is metric. The 2 year warranty is now standard in the U.S. if you register your unit.
The importer here in Oz ," BLA" needs to get a reality check!!!!!!

I am fairly confident that the only things changing are Ethernet related items. At least from what I have seen. My 898 worked fine on the initial 6.180 update as a standalone unit. I was only having problems with Ethernet stuff. Waypoint sharing, transducer sharing, etc
I also did the reversal and back to the newer 6.180 release w/o issues.
