Title: sun shield
Post by: Irishrover on February 29, 2012, 02:39:32 PM
I had ordered Ben Parker's Bass Under Glass dvd...it was ok, expecting more talk about setting up the Humminbird unit  than watching him catch fish. But there is something I'm looking for that I saw on Ben's boat & don't really know what it's called. On the console, his Humminbird had a metal shield that partially covered the sides & the top of his unit. It looks like it would be easier on sunny days to read your screen. Plus it might help when the rain's hitting the face of your Humminbird making it difficult to read your map as your moving on the water. I have a 997 on my console & will be putting a 898 up front on the trolling motor. If anyone could pass along what this is called & where I can buy one for each Humminbird...I'd appreciate it.

I don't know the one he is using but I bought a Raptor Shield. You install it on your unit with Velcro so you can remove it anytime you need to.It was a huge help with the sun glare which was one of my biggest problems with my 998.It also helps cut down on rain and water flyin around from the fish and what not.Forgot exactly what I paid somewhere around 35 bucks.Just Google Raptor shield and see if it what your looking for...

If it was made of metal than it probably was a sunshield from Dennis and Tammy Watters.  Here is their web site:

Greg, I think you do a tremendous job answering everybodys questions & providing them with reliable information. It must take a lot of time out of your day to constantly respond to people & give them the info they are looking for. In the past you have helped me with my own questions. So thank you Greg for all that you do and all of the great information you pass on, Dennis.
