hello as a newbie to si I have enjoyed the forum a great deal as to the help it gives,and as such hope someone has a ray of hope as to a problem my new 798 cxi(3 hours old) :-[ has as it has the latest updates (5.840) and works very well in every other aspect but with a sd card in the slot and the snapshot or record button is pushed the unit locks up or reboots over and over until i take the card out and them it starts normally again but has reset back to default and zeroed unit hours.sorry to bug you, but i hoped someone might have an idea.By the way I tried 4 cards of different types and sizes.Thank you.

Resetting back to zero hours might be a good thing. ;D Just kidding....
If you have tried different cards and experiene the same thing it may be a unit problem.
Have you talked to customer support as yet...
Also, is the power supply in good shape and with plenty of charge?

:( looks like a phone call to customer service as when I fired up the unit this morning it went to a boot test page and locked up,the power voltage is between 12.5 and14 volts motor running

just a quick update: found that sounder was stuck in boot strap mode and after reading some of the forum I made up a PC lead and following the help from Jolly rogers post ,How to Restore Your Unit using the Bootstrap Mode,http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=661.msg2904#msg2904 I was able to reload to ver 5.590 and all went well no luck up or reboot when trying a snapshot or recording but found no nav tab or gps found so updated to5.840 and every thing was back. as yet only taken snapshot of gps screen on land with no lockup so here hopes problem solved.thank you Jolly roger :)
