Title: Where to buy transducers.
Post by: Fay on February 11, 2012, 11:49:03 AM
From what I read here, it looks like I should upgrade the transducer to the XHS-9-HDSI-180-T from the XNT-9-SI-180-T for a new HB 798 unit.  I will want two.  Any suggestions on where to buy?
thanks in advance - Fay

Fay, Where are you thinking about mounting the two transducers? And the use of each...You may not want two HDSI....

Internet sales have had good prices on transducers.

A couple of older posts listed several dealers but I cant find them right now..

Maybe someone will remember and repost...

Chuck.

Chuck, I hope to get by with only one transducer per boat.  I may use the unit on all three boats I fish.  One is an I/O and the others are outboards.  I have read that it may take two for the I/O but
I sure hope not.  I would think that I would get a clean reading out of one side of the I/O for sure.
I will not put two on any boat.  later - Fay

Best price I can find is "NextWarehouse" but it looks a little shaky. :)

Check out BBG Marine or Universal Mania.  Both have an excellent reputation.

For BBG Marine....call to find out their price.  The webpage generally shows list price, but they can do better if you call them.
Brian at BBG can answer ANY questions you might have.

Fay, OK, I see the multiple boats.  I can understand the need now..
The post by BOB B has been referenced before and most seem to be happy with the price and shipping..
Remember to check out postings on the HDSI and the location considerations for mounting.
Especially by boat type and use..

Chuck, you've lost me.  I plan to put one on a 24 ' I/O 1980 Sea Ray and one on a 18 ' Boston Whaler outboard.  Is there a place I can search for best locations for each type of hull?  Fay

Fay,
yes you can use the search tab at the top of the main menu. Remember be creative and try several different words so that you can get matches for the postings in the forum. Quite a lot for transducer locations..
Also you can look at the installation pictures in the gallery tab.
This should give you some ideas..
Does this help..

Hard for my wood stove to keep up today Chuck and my house is small.
Poquoson Va. is on the  Chesapeake Bay and we had gust up to 46 knots
last night.  With 23F temp. that makes for a cool time.  Winter has finally
arrived I guess.  I was doing so well with my wood too.   ;D  later - Fay
