Title: structure map ????
Post by: crappiejigger on February 09, 2012, 10:07:18 AM
Anyone know if hummingbird is going to come out with something like lowrance has (structuremap) in the near future. And if it will be a software upgrade or have to be bought on a new unit. Im close to buying a sideimaging unit but could hold of for a little while if they are going to come out with this new technology ?? the structuremap software looked very useful but really dont see myself buying a lowrance product.

We already have software to do this, although it is on a PC rather than on the water with the unit.

HB probably won't be long with their own version, if history is any indicator.

Unfortunately for the 2 map suppliers, having this capability on the unit will demonstrate pretty convincingly how poor some of the "HD" maps really are, particularly in shallower waters.  You are going to see a lot of structure that does not appear on any map, and the map is going to indicate structure that clearly does not exist.

Should be interesting.....

This is showing a quite a bit on the forums, so HB should be taking notice.

Sounds like a good one to post on the wish list http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=323.msg17216#msg17216 (http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=323.msg17216#msg17216)
