Title: 1197 downbeam kHz and screen waterfall rate
Post by: habit_mapping on February 07, 2012, 12:30:06 PM
Folks,

Can some explain the exact mechanisms that causes the screen "waterfall" (or clear rate) to slow by approx. half when the downbeam kHz is switched from 200 kHz to 83 kHz on an 1197c unit?

Much obliged.

HM, I am not sure what you mean by waterfall or clear rate. Can you describe this a little more...
I may be the 1% that is not up to date on terminology. ;D...... :P
Thanks..
Chuck

If you are meaning the rate by which the display gets updated, than this is due to the unit having to transmit and receive on two frequencies at the same time.  Even though you may set the unit to display only the 83kHz sonar frequency; it is still transmitting and receiving at the 200kHz frequency in order to determine the water depth.

Thanks. That answers my question.

Cheers.
