Title: Dumb Question (?)
Post by: sonar112 on January 27, 2012, 05:03:25 PM
I have a 917c...is it possible to make this unit side imaging?  Down imaging?

Hi,
Yes, you can get some side imaging from it if you use any of the SI or HDSI transducers. You also have to select Quad Beam in the Transducer select entry under the Sonar Menu Tab. To get the best view, select Classic View under Side Beam View. The side images will be quit small and range is probably limited to 50 m (150 ft). Note, this is not an official option, but it's possible and has been proven to work with other models with the same options as your unit has.

Thank you for the rapid reply!  So, if I install an XNT 9 SI 180 T transducer, I would get a limited SI function.  How about down imaging?  Also, if I choose not to use SI, would the unit function the same as it currently does with my existing XNT 9 QB 90 T transducer?

Yes, the XNT 9 SI 180 T (a compact SI model) will allow for the usual downward 200/83 views and all other views at the Quad Beam setting. The unit can't feel the difference between a XNT 9 QB 90 T transducer and a XNT 9 SI 180 T transducer because both transducer models use the same frequencies in the same channels. Unfortunately, you can't get DI with your unit.
