Hello guys have a question?Will the 798's they have on sale right now(@Cabela's) be able to download the new version to get rid of the temp/depth etc to get a full screen?Hope I asked the right question?I was talking to a rep at BPS and he said it depends on the date it was made.Does anyone know what that date is?Thanks in advance,Mike

Yes the 798 is fully compatible and is able to make the update changes as they become available.

It looks like that is the old model 798ci si......It doesn't have ethernet capabilities.

You are right, the 798 that is on sale at Cabelas is last years model and does not have ethernet and there may be some other differences which should be checked before making a decision.
The cost is $760 versus $1050 for the newer model.

I am really surprised that there as still any of these units around. Is Humminbird still manufacturing them for outlets that want to post a good sale price?

I don’t think that there has been official word that this feature will be added to any of the 798 units. It was mentioned for the newer (Linux based) 800/900 and 1100 series units but that was it.
