Title: depth number pb
Post by: PELICAN on November 11, 2011, 04:10:55 PM
Hi, i am french, i have a depth number first giving 2554 feet on 210 feet true depth. And next outdour, no number of depth at all, i surch to put the readot but everyplace i select depth it doesn t appear giving me course instead.Si imagine work well and down imagine too.but the normal depth sonar don t give me the image of the down floor.
What could be the pb, i know a friend use the humminbird while i was fishing, bad setting or beam problem?
Thanks to help me.

Are you saying that the unit is showing the Course in the digital readouts where Depth has been selected?  Try resetting the unit back to the factory defaults by using the Restore Defaults menu.

Are you also saying that the unit is not showing you the 2D (regular conventional) sonar View?  Resetting the unit to the factory defaults should set this View as “Visible”.  If you were not aware; you can set each available View in the unit as “Visible” or “Hidden”.  So maybe some hid this View.

hI.i ever made the reset, detph readot appear when the beam is on the water but give a big number whereas the depth is less important, before 2554 feet, now 1550 feet with only 75 feet real, and is lighting, si and down imagine seems to be ok.
I set the upper range oft and try différent low range but the number always lighting and stop by intermitence.Isn t that the beam that doesn t work any more?It s difficult for me to repare because in guadeloupe, nobody is reparing humminbird model.
Don t know what to do, i was happy to use my humminbird, i steel have the gps and chart reader but need all the rest. Thanks

This sounds like you are having sonar reading issues altogether.  I would see if you can find someone else that has a Humminbird sonar unit and try testing your Humminbird unit on their transducer (plug in only the Power and Transducer cables for the test) to see if you get the same results or not.  Doing this will help point to where the problem is: in the unit or the transducer.

humminbird is not common here, i am perhaps the only si owner.
This is an iland where most of people use and sell garmin because the chart is more detailed for the gwadeloupe zone.
I thought about changing the beam but if that s not the pb, i wast money for nothing. And in france si beam cost a lot. :'( :'( :'(

Than you may have to contact whoever you bought the unit from and send them the unit and transducer to diagnose and repair.
