Just wondering what speed the SDHC memory card needs to be to record on the 898c Si? Class 2 - 10? The higher the class the faster the card can read information. ( very important for HD camcorders )

Hi,
There have been problems with some of the faster cards. Check this thread: http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=2884.0 (http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=2884.0)
Class 4 is enough for my 981.

Hi
I use the ScanDisk Extreme / 20MB/s / 4GB and its work very well.

If you plan to do recordings get the SanDisk Extreme Class 10 card. The Write speed is what determines how well the card will work with your control head. The faster it can be written to the faster the control head can clear it's buffer. If the buffer gets full, recordings will stop until the buffer can be cleared by writing that data to the SDHC card.
And if you have a digital camera or plan to get one in the future and it uses an SDHC type card you can use the cards for both the camer and the Humminbird Unit. I have several of the SanDisk Extreme 4 Gig and 8 Gig class ten cards that can write at 30 MB/sec

Yes, the faster cards should be better for any application, but I have tested speed class 10 and UHS-1 cards (30 and 45 MB/s) and these cards do not work properly with my unit. The result is data loss/gaps in the recordings which are difficult to detect if you don't expect them. This is probably caused by a software bug. The speed class 4 and 6 cards are fast enough and the recordings are (almost) perfect.
