Title: waypoints on sd card
Post by: wrogersjr@aol.com on October 14, 2011, 08:36:15 PM
When I  loaded new waypoints on my SD card from Hummingbird PC, it read "Not enough memory to hold new data". and I know it does not have no where near 3,000 waypoints.  Does anyone have any information on why it is telling me that it does not have enough memory when I know I have installed only around 300 waypoints????

You need to delete the existing waypoint held in the memory as well as all navigation data. The tracks and routes can take up a huge amount of memory depending on the settings you use.

If you don't delete the existing waypoints, you will find that any waypoints that are already in memory as well as on the SD card will be displayed twice.

are you saying we need to delete everything and start over?

1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. Click on "My Computer".
3. Click on the drive where your SD card is located.
4. Right click and a drop-down box will open.
5. Click on "Properties" to display a graph showing the free space available on your SD card. If it's full or close to full, you need to delete some files or use a different SD card. If it has plenty of free space, then the SD card is not the problem.

I loaded 55 more waypoints on my sd card from hummingbird pc. Put the sd card in the unit. It read not enough memory to hold new data.It still loaded the waypoints . I don't understand why it would say not enough memory to hold data and still load the waypoints.

I think the "Not enough memory" is from trying to load saved tracks.

I've seen that message on my machine before.
You should periodically clear your current track.
The unit keeps recording the current track, even
if you're sitting still.
I don't know how much memory it can use or
how long it will record until it starts over.

Humminbird should allow the users to select
if they want a current track recorded or not.
It's a pain to keep clearing it.
