Title: Where in the h@ll is the 5.7 Update for the 1197?

There will not be a version 5.70 out for the 1198.  The next possible release may be version 5.840. 

But it has not been officially released of course!   ;)

Is 5.5 the last update for the 1197?  Will it being going to the box of retired units?

Yes, 5.500 is current for the 1197.  What do you mean "going to the box of retired units"?

It is in the legacy products and generally speaking that means no new "stuff" for that product...Or so I thought...
If you look at the HB site the 1100 series only show the 1158 and the 1198.
I thought HB had said they were not making the 1197 anymore...

They aren't, but that doesnt mean they will not be updating them!

I certainly hope not as the 1197 is a great sonar unit... ;D....... :D
I would hate to have to put it in a box and look for funding for the 1198 or the next generation..

No new update yet for the 1197 the 1198 has the 5.70 now.   Gary

Legacy is just a nice word that Humminbird uses for old sh@t. :)

You would think that the 1197 isn't that much different from the 1198.
I do understand why HB would put out the updates for the newer units first.

I'm with you Chuck.
I don't want to buy another sonar for awhile.

I need my 1197 to be rocking and rolling for a few more years yet.
You know what I'm saying?

In my opinion, unless the update for the 1197c SI includes the long awaited "waypoint management system" (WMS) it is a waste of time.  The WMS was announced in September 2009.  That is now 2 years ago.  It is time to take it out of the box HB.  The unit is working fine on 5.5.  I WANT WMS.

I'll have to disagree ETnSC:
The recording playback on my 1197 is absolutely useless with the 5.5 software.

I was hoping the update would fix that.
Anything else the update does would be a bonus.
