I am a new user of a 998cSI. I have recorded a sonar run but was surprised to find that HumminbirdPC does not replay the recordings. I have now downloaded Humviewer. However, it does not seem able to open the files that I recorded. If I open the RECORD folders there are two kinds of file .IDV and .SON, but Humviewer steadfastly refuses to open either type. As there do not seem to be any instructions with Humviewer it is difficult to work out what I am doing wrong. Any ideas?

Hi,
You should open a .DAT file. Don't try the files in the sub-folders in the Record folder.

when you record the unit creats a file called Record. In that file are two related files.
One will be a (recorded named).dat file and a related file called..(recorded name)
for example:
Record
R000138.dat
R000138 (containing thew .idx and .son files)
To expand on this with multiple recordings..
Record
R000138
R000139
R000140
R000138.dat
R000139.dat
R000140.dat
To view a particular file you will click on the name.dat file. It will point to the associated .IDX and .SON files.
Unless you erase the card all recorded data will be in the main file called record.
Hope this helps.....

Thanks Rickard and Chuck. I've got it now. Seems to be working well
