I'm having trouble with my 998 recognizing new waypoints i create in humminrd pc and transfer to an existing sd card. I've tried
1)un-istalling the hb pc and installing the older version.
 2)re-installing the newer version.
3)deleting all files from sd card and only installing the new ones.
4)deleting all nav data off unit and re-installing all of the above.
the unit will read the old data when i re-install it but nothing new.
 please help.

Also, i get an erorr when trying to view any waypoint in google earth. i tried the old versions and new versions together. "Run time exception" is the error.

If you don’t want to use the work around for the new 4.1.1 version HumminbirdPC software than you should use the add/remove function on your computer and remove it.  Than install the 3.2.2 version of HumminbirdPC and try your waypoint again.  I don’t remember of anyone having problems with creating and transferring waypoints with this version.

What brand and size memory card are you using?
Have you tried reformatting it (using the correct software to do so if it is an SDHC type memory card)?

As for the run time exception error: what version of Google Earth are you running?
What version of Windows are you running and does it have the latest updates installed?

I just tried it with the 3.0.26 version on a Panasonic 16mb sd card and a Lexar 128mb sd card. "No New Nav Data Found" is the responseon the unit. Where can I find the 4.1.1 version ? I updated my adobe reader. What other windows updates can I do?
I tried the older versions of HB PC that used to work.
I went in and made sure all the old hb pc files were deleted from my c drive.

It appears that i'm an idiot and the unit is fine. hb pc had defaulted to e insted of w on the waypoints. thank you for your help.

You are in good company SkeeterMatt as I have forgotten that the Longitude default was East on several occasions as well.  Wondered why those waypoints were showing up in Tibet…

Depending on systems you sometimers have to put a (-) in front of the longitude reading as well as the degrees is a three digit number...for example -078....
