				I have a 19.5 ft Alluminum deep V, recently bought a  new 1197 unit and went through all the instructions and even drilled holes way off int eright hand corner to get it away from the motor, anyways, I have the transducer set about flush with the hull which does have rivets all along it BTW. All is great until I get up to speeds above 25 MPH and the screen  on the fish finder part gets all washed out. 
 
 I raised the unit and lowered the unit about 1/3" each way from original setting using same holes, just adjusted all the way up, then all the way down with no difference in end results, so, the majic question is since I already have over a dozen prior fish finder transducer holes in the hull, where should i put the nesst set?? should i go UP an inch or should I go down which i really hate to do since Im all over on the Ohio River and we are constantly smashing over logs and such ona  daily basis so lowering is NOT preferred,
 
 Any experience with this would be great...Thanks ahead of time!

				Definately an issue and one that is experienced by more than a few.  
 It might be time for a thru the hull installation for the faster speed...
 Or a smaller puck for speed..

				Thanks for the reply, the through hull transducer is not an option ( IE Cost prohibitive and all the research i did , everyone had tons of problems with them)  Just curious what you meant by a " a smaller puck" ??? Thanks for the help!

				Mark, somethin smaller than the hdsi ducer. but that woul also lose the si.  however while on speed plane you  may only want depth .....
 You could run two transducer with a wye cable...or the new switch when ever Hb gets it in stock.   >:(

				Maybe raise the HDSi transducer, use the AS-Si-DB-Y splitter cable and the Radarsonic’s AlumaDucer?

 Some have had good results from this inside-the-hull transducer that is made for aluminum boats and some have not – just an option I thought I would mention.

				I am in the process of redoing mine.  I moved teh HDSI unit closer to center and added a second 2d unit for high speed depth etc.
 
 I don't know as that this was a necessary change, but it seems to be the preferred way.

				I did move it back closer to the center and while it did seem to help some, I still pick up a lot o fscreen interference at about 25 MPH, it is better in the sense that even at top speed ( 43 mph)the screen is still readable  where I can see the bottom depth it just has a bunch of interference on the screen where as the last time, it completely blanked ou tthe screen by about 28 MPH. So its better...but not fixed....I dont think I can really move it any closer to center with all my drains/intakes as its now only 3-4" from them. Still open for inexpensive options....
