Hello everyone soon too be new user here. :) I am setting my boat with some electronics.
It is the 798ci HD SI with two seperate mounts and transducers. The helm mount will be hook upto the transmon mount transducer. At the bow will be the second mount hooked to the (xtm 9 SI 180t ) transducer.
I ordered the extra mount, PC 11 power cable, XTM transducer, and two ms-w covers today. If I'm lucky mabye this week end. ;D
I'll post my progress.
Can I use this right out of the box, or do I need to down load stuff first ?

It works right out of the box. Or is supposed to...
Settings are the key and I would suggest first reading the manual front to back in light reading mode.
Also do some searches in the fourm and you will find a lot of helpful hints..
If you get stuck just post a question.

Thanks for the reply Chuck.
I was hoping that was the case. I printed the manual off the disk the day my humminbird came, now I need a new ink cartridge. :D
Have read it twice and now jumping here and there.
I am really excited to get this installed. The DVD that came with it is killer.
Now if that ups guy could show up.

Yep...a pain in the stern for cd references. Costs to print.....what do you want to print.........costs to buy a laptop to take with you...
Anyway. reading the manual completely before trying to do setup or other settings make the process of finding the page that tells you what to do a lot easier.
I understand the decision of HB to stop printing and send a cd but that does place the additional cost on us..

The brite side was not alot of color illustrations. ;D
After reading more, I'm realizing that a laptop, reader and sd cards are most likely are in my future.

You could print out only the specific pages you might need to reference and put them in a laminated or protector sheet in a folder....
Laptops are as expensive as sonar units....
Suddenly you find the initial cost of $3000 is now $3000 more to get the extra features and usability of the base unit.. :o..... :P....

I now have everything for the installation. Heading for the lake today, have 5 days for work and play. Hopefully it will be one day work with four of fishing.
I'll try and post pictures of the finished install when I get back.
