Post by: prusso13 on May 18, 2011, 07:41:55 PM
Hi,  I'm new to this forum so please excuse, and correct my etiquette but I was wondering if anyone knows if the the Humviewer tool can be used to view the recorder files from my 597 ci HD di combo.

Humviewer works directly with the humminbird record file.
YellowFin must use the HBSI converter available in the downloads section to use the HB record.

Thanks, I did run the recording in Humviewer, however I was not able to view the DI recording.  It did run the standard sonar view.  I was unable to convert the file to run in Yellowfin. The message I got was I was missing one .son file.  Yellowfin does run the test file which is the SI file, it looks really good.

I cant remember right now if humviewer shows DI...I think it is 2d and SI.

Look at your record and make sure that you have in the R000XX record a .IDX and .SON for  B000 thru B003.

Gary does this have to do with the software level of the unit.  Which ver (release) activated the DI?
Give me a call when you get the chance...

Gary....I dont think Humviewer shows the same picture as the unit.
I looked at the picture in the gallery and all are snapsahots from  the units. None from an external vierwer.
So I am thinking Humviewer is not the same...

Chuck:
The newest version of Humviewer will let you change the view between 2D, SI port, SI starboard, SI Both sides and DI.   You can chose to see three panels at a time or 4 panels also.  Just right click on any of the panels on the screen and choose the view you want to see.  You can see the track view, DI view, SI views and 2D screen view on any of the four different panels. You can also show where you are in your track using Google Earth.  I found this really helpful.  I had a track or recording that I was not sure where it was taken.  I downloaded and installed Google Earth and pointed the Humviewer file to the google earth exe file.  After I did that I could show the google earth screen and see my track on the google earth screen. I was able to tell exactly where I took the recording. The lake I fish does not have a map of the lake that's able to work with my humminbird 898.  The IDNR did a lake survey and they posted a map online at their web site but it's not compatable with the humminbird units.  I wish it were but they didn't go that far. Not sure what they did to make the maps.  Too bad they didn't use Dr Depth as I was under the impression that one can make new maps for the humminbird units using Dr depth?  I could be wrong on that last statement as it may just be my wishful thinking.  Not sure if they really did that yet.  I'd love for someone to figure out how to make new lake maps for peole to use on their humminbird units at local lakes.

I was able to finally see my PVC crappie trees that I put in a lake.  I could not find them using the HB SI or DI or 2d views while out on the water.  I must have my filter setup too high and they were not showing up on my 898's screen.  But when I made a recording and played it back in humviewer yesterday I could see three of my pvc crappie trees in 28 ft of water. They showed up better on my computer screen without the sun shining on the screen.  A dark room and Larger 26" wide screen display makes a huge difference in what you can see on the screen shots.

I'm not sure what version of Humviewer I have right now but I know it's the lastest one on the download page in this site.

Gary does this have to do with the software level of the unit.  Which ver (release) activated the DI?
