Title: 1197c New Update 5.500

New update 5.500 is available now for 1197c.

Is working perfectly  ;D ;D

Corrected phantom tracks issue;
Corrected waypoint skipping crashes;
Corrected crashes when the Ethernet connection was removed;
Corrected communications issues caused when Interlink went offline and correct sonar recording playback issues.

does this also go for the 1198 's or just the 1197 units?

My unit was made the first week of April of this year.  Does it have everything it needs then?

Software update version 5.500 should be for more than just the 1197c Si units.  I'm not at work and so cannot check on whether it was released for the 1198c Si units yet.  if not it should be shortly.

This is a new softare release so only units made after the relase date will have it.  Calli1 I doubt that your unit has the 5.500 software.

Robert will have to use the FTP site to get it on here when he can.  The file is too large for me to do this.  Can you do this Chuck?

Robert will have to set up the FTP for the transfer. In the mean time, if you have 5.5 you can download it to transferbigfiles.com and then it can be uploaded by the receiver.
We had discussed a section here for transfers but have not gotten it set up as yet...

I have not been able to check the Humminbird web site and see what all got posted and what did not.  Of the two that I checked earlier today that should have had new software; one did and one didn’t but the one that did would not let me download the software update file.  Unfortunately the person that takes care of all of this is out of town and I don’t know that they can remotely access it.

My account information for my 1197c says version 5.550 is available, not 5.500.
Am I missing something.

Someone else must be able to add the software downloads or it is being done remotely as I checked this morning and some of the units did not have the updates available but now they do.  So the 5.500 update is available for your aa98 off the Humminbird web site.

Yes that is correct: the 1197 software update version is 5.550.  Not sure what the difference is as it lists the same things as being changed for it as do the other 1100 series units that got the 5.500 software update.

OK....just to make sure..I understand this..
The 1197 update is 5.550
And the 1198 is 5.50..
Soon we will have to enrole in a college and take a 4 year degree in computer science in order to be able to use and upgrade our sonar units.
It is almost that way now in computers...

Important:
The 1197 update is 5.500

Name of the file after download (site Humminbird)
590248-1_v5_500.bin

After update my 1197c SI presents version 5.500

Conclusion: error in the site Humminbird (written erro 5.550)

I believe I will wait until I see on the Humminbird Website under where I regestered my unit before I decide to download any update on my new 1198.......

I have logged on to my account at Humminbird and the new V5.500 is there for my 1198.

I have already downloaded to a clean S D Card but will hold off until you guys say it is ok to download to my unit.  It shows that it was sent to my account on April 12, 2011 for my 1198 being registered.

I performed the update on my 1197 last night and all went well.
The website says it's version 5.550 but the unit shows version 5.500
after update.
This verifies that the version written on the Humminbird website is incorrect.

I have talked with the folks at Humminbird and they tell me that it is safe to download the latest software on the 1198 units.  Simply follow the "update software" proceedures and everything should be good.  I plan to do mine in a few days.

Thanks for the version update.  I guess it is easy to type a number in wrong.  Heck, I have problems typing these posts.. ;D... ::)
I would guess it is easy to miss a number if thew entry is not check closely.
Newspaper reporter do it all the time.
I cant say the number of times I have seen websites with spelling errors.
