Title: Green Horn Questions

Just had my 798ci SI installed.  Ice is finally off the lake, and it's time to fish.  Sat in the boat with a cold one and played around a bit.  I downloaded the latest update off the HB site and loaded it up on the unit.  Do I need to load any of the older updates or does this new one get me caught up?  When I turned the sonar screens on the 2-D sonar showed the depth in my garage, but the SI and DI screens showed nothing but black.  Any reason for concern? Or is this just the way it works out of water?  Incidently, I was already to install the DI update to add this to my unit.  When I turned the unit it on it said it had DI, on the screen options menu.  There is no mention of this on the box the unit came in.  Thanks for the help.  Sam

Sam,

You will only need the current update.  It will have all the prior updates included.

The transducer needs to be wet (as in water) in order for it to work. While you may get a depth reading the sonar will not.
