Title: Transducer Question
Post by: LoonASea on March 31, 2011, 07:47:17 PM
Finaly had the snow melted down enough to get to work on my boat ,,,,Mounted the GPS reciever and transducer but noticed that my transducer  has about a 1/8 inch of travel  between hitting the bracket and the pinchers (if thats what they are called ) that allow the ducer to kick up when hitting something,  Is this normal ??? I was thinking of glueing a small piece of inner tube to the bracket to reduce that gap  but Im thinking this doesnt look normal
Any Ideas??

Randy,
Some play in this bracket is normal as it does allow the ‘ears’ of the metal bracket to expand outwards thus allowing the transducer to kick-up.  If it bothers you or if you feel that the force is not enough you can take the transducer and pivot arm (black plastic part) off and squeeze the ‘ears’ together, but it will still have some play in it.  I know that some have used some foam or rubber between the back of the pivot arm and the metal mount to get rid of any movement of the transducer, but for the most part this is not needed as the constant force of the against the transducer keeps it pressed back against the stops on the metal bracket.

Thanks for the reply Greg ,,,My main concern was while trailering my boat and the movement of the transducer possibly causing damage
