Title: Disappointed at Humminbird exhibit at the Atlantic City Boat Show
Post by: gofission on February 07, 2011, 12:23:32 PM
I guess HB does not think their product worthy of the saltwater market. Too bad. Missing lots of sales. The Lowrance/Simrad LSS displays had lots of interest.

I think one reason for that is that the Humminbird units don't have radar capability (that I know of).  I've heard that Salties are big on radar.  Besides, the units have always been designed for freshwater fishing, although they are used in Salt water from time to time.

You will see a bigger push for the Salt Water, Diving and SAR guys later this year from Humminbird.

That push could be in the form of another brand though: GeoNav.  Johnson Outdoors, Inc. (our parent company) bought them a year or so ago.  Robert and Chuck got to see some of the units being built when they were down here – they make the 1197 and 1198 look smallish!
