Been having a problem with 898si combo with it turning itself off when im running at speed and hitting waves. It only seems to happen when i hit a good size wave. I checked all the connections from the back of the unit to the electricial post. Also having a problem with the power button also, so you think i should send the unit in for new one? Thanks for any help. :(

Maybe the impact of the waves is causing the power cable to move around a bit.
Maybe take some plastic ties and secure the wire(s) from moving around.

If that doesn't work, I would call Humminbird customer service and see what they suggest.  If they suggest you send the unit back, ask them for a prepaid mailing label, so it won't cost you anything to send unit back to them.

I have also had this problem myself...not as much but have in the past.  Secure your cables down really well.  This is probably the main problem.

 Good Luck....

Thanks for your help I will give that a try because I know for sure that screw to attach all cables in back of the unit is tight. I'll look under the console and see if I need more zip ties.  :D

				Chet,

This is a fairly common issue with the Humminbird cables.  The pins that fit in the holes sometimes lose contact and cause the power loss.  Securing the cables may help, but what has been most successful is slightly bending the pins outward so the connection is a little tighter.  Again, just SLIGHTLY push them out.

 This should do the trick,
