Title: 958c upgrade to 5.2 version
Post by: shotgunman1969 on January 23, 2011, 05:09:50 PM
I just purchased a 958c and installed it with an interlink to my 997csi. It was reading the interlink and as soon as I upgraded the 058c to the 5.2 version on the Hummingbird website it will not communicate with interlink. Can I get the original software version download and change it back? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.  I dont keep the Non-SI unit software in the download section and the software that shipped with your unit may not be found as a download anyway.

I will forward this on the Greg (Humminbird Greg) and see if he can you a copy.

Thanks,

Robert

Keep the 997 as the primary unit on the Interlink and do not let the 958 with 5.210 reprogram the Interlink. When you get the previous software, probably 4.970, load it on the 958. Make the 959 unit 2 on the Interlink and it should work again.

Also, contact Customer Resources. They may have some beta software to help with the issue.

Thanks for info.  Humminbird sent me updates fro both units today via e-mail. Both are BETA. The version for the 997 is 4.995. I am a little hesitant to upgrade the 997 with this update. Do you think I need to update both or just do the 958?

I would do both. 4.995 loaded on my 997 just fine.

Contacting the Humminbird Customer Resource folks and getting the InterLink BETA software was your best move.  Yes I would install the BETA software into both your 997 and 958 units.

Got Interlink today and installed it. Everything is working as it should after a few growing pains. Only connected Interlink to 997 as unit 1. Interlink Reprogrammed which surprised me since I requested it be programmed with the same software version on my units (4.995 Beta). The Interlink disconnected from the 997 just after reprogramming but reconnected and I was able to set the 997 to fully participate in the network. Connected 858 as unit 2 and powered it up. Was able to set it to fully participate in the network. I chose to keep data from the network and overwrite data on the 858. What I ended up with was double waypoints. Tried to use 997 to clear all data from network and start over but Interlink disconnected and would not reconnect.

Put 997 on Interlink as unit 2 and it was happy. 858 on Interlink as unit 1 and it was happy but I got triple waypoints. I was able to erase nav data and let 997 reload network. Was able to create waypoints on one unit and delete it from the other. The 858 appears to have more advanced Interlink capabilities so I guess it gets to be unit 1.
