Title: 2011 798ci HD 'Ice Fishing Mode'

Hey all

I am hoping to shed some light on a question I have.  I recently purchased a 2010 798ci, and have been using the flasher mode/gps for ice fishing.  I was seeking some information out to see how others are doing this and maximizing settings to get the best readings possible, when I stumbled upon the operations manual for the 2011 798ci HD unit on HB's website.  I found a spot where it makes mention of 'Ice Fishing Mode', which will supposedly give you a more true 'flasher' experience, instead of converting the RTS data to form the flasher read out. 

So I log in, download the newest version of the software, and I can't find this setting anywhere.  So a couple questions - do we have any members out there with the 2011 798ci HD?  If so, what software version is on it?  Can you log in to your account and tell me if there is something newer than v5.21 available for the 2011 models?  This is a bit confusing and frustrating.  It looks so cool in the manual!

I worked with HB support, but they were unable to answer me.  They are supposed to research further and get back to me.  I've also been working with Greg Walters a bit, but he won't be able to assist this week as he's booked up, but he thinks this feature should be available in the 5.21 update. 

Can others confirm what they are seeing?  It should be under the sonar tab.

Are you in "Advanced Mode"  in your settings?

I checked my 2010 798 menus for all those features and don't have them either. I have loaded the 5.210 update.
If they exist in the 2011 models, the software is different.

I dont know about the 798, but in my 787, it is in the  "views" tab,  under  "Circular Flasher View" ..

This is actually a modification to circular flasher mode. Gives you more control and presents the data in a different way.

The customer rep called me back this morning and said she had spoken with the engineers, and that ice fishing mode was supposed to be included in 5.21, but somehow it didn't make it in. 

She said they are going to update it, but didn't have an ETA on when it would be available.

I run my 798CIsi in "A-Scope" graph mode using just the 200KHz beam and bottom lock, works great jigging walleyes - except I think we got ripped off on the ice season this year, but the boat trips made up for it!   >:D
