I am looking at new units. I already have a 565 at my console, I am going to put that one in the bow. I am looking at two different models, a 597ci HD DI or a 788ci HD DI. Other than $150.00 what is the difference? I like the down imaging and card slot for a map program and also GPS. Am I on the right track for a good upgrade? Any help would be much appreciated.

Things the 788 has that the 597 does not.
The 788 has two SD cards slots so you can have mapping and snapshot at the same time.
The 788 can be used to link with another unit using Interlink or Ethernet
The 788 has a better base map with contours for some waters.
The 788 has 3 shortcut programmable buttons for favorite views.
For me the the 788 is the best choice and worth the extra $$$$

I’ll also add one thing to what Wayne stated:
The 788 is software upgradeable for free as well. Any new features that come out should be available as a free software download that you can do with your computer and an SD card. I have not heard that any of the 500 series of units will have free on-line software upgrades.
