Title: no gps connection
Post by: crappie1 on October 07, 2010, 09:49:12 AM
I have a 798cisi unit and the gps keeps going out.  I have talked to humminbird and sent the unit back to them twice to be fixed.  Somedays it works fine and others it won't turn on.  It works for short periods of time and then it says no gps connection and won't pull up the gps mapping screen even though everything else works fine.  Can anybody help???

I have found that bending the plug-in connectors slightly seems to help.

Crappie1,
Is that a 798ci Si model unit (as in an internal GPS)?
If so, call the Humminbird Customer Resource folks and tell them you want it fixed this time.  See if they will replace the whole unit since it has been back to the shop more than once.
You don’t have it mounted under anything that would block the signals from the satellites do you?

Thanks ...   I did talk to humminbird  firiday and they are sending me a external antenna for it  and said it should override the internal and correct my problem,  hopefully  it will.
