Display on show these bars , no fish , no continuous readout,

looks like bar codes...

Think I answered this on another web site but...

I would test it in the water on a lake to see if the same thing happens.  If so; make sure all other sonar units are turned off.  If it still happens try resetting the menus to the factory settings (Restore Defaults menu).  If it still does this I would shut everything else on the boat off to make sure that this is not due to interference.  You can also try testing it with another Humminbird transducer (does not have to be the same model as almost all Humminbird units share the same 2D sonar).
