I’m confused as to the connection between my 998c and PC to do “real time” depth and position recordings (using hyperterminal). I’m using the Com Y cable (HHGPS) to split the GPS NMEA Com (GPS in) and the ACCY Com (PC out). But, I don’t get any data to the PC being that the female connector on the ACCY Com doesn’t have the same pin configuration as the NMEA Com connector (AS PC2). Data does transfer to the PC when connected to the NMEA Com connector or directly to the Communication/GPS connector of the head but, GPS cannot function. What Humminbird Y cable am I supposed to use for this application? Or, do I need to make one myself?
Is it possible to record depth and position information automatically on a track for a specific interval of time and have it saved to the SD card?

Sorry guys and gals. Just kept looking and found the answer below:

I'm still wondering if it's possible to record depth and position information automatically on a track for a specific interval of time and have it saved to the SD card?

When you make a recording unto the SD card, both track position and depth are recorded at 1 second / 10' intervals, and may be extracted from the recording using SIView (for sure, cause I do this all the time) and Humviewer (as I recall).
-
You can also save a Track and get the same data. Perform an Export All Nav Data to an SD card and pull the track up in HumminbirdPC from the SD card (not from a file saved on your computer because it will not work – it has to be from the SD card). You should see a listing of the corrdinates and depths for each trackpoint which can be copied and pasted into some other program.

Thanks. I just finished trying this method and it does work work when exporting the tracks to a text doc. The only problem is that the depth readings aren't in the scale that's being recorded to the unit. How do I get the actual depth recordings?

I can't seem to find the "listing" of coordinates and depths or any option in the program to access this data in HumminbirdPC. I am opening it directly from the SD card, what am I doing wrong?? Thanks.

96720,
Try it again but follow the attached instructions.

My HumminbirdPC window doesn't look anything like the one shown in the pdf. The only things that you can view are MMC/SD card download, PC connect download, Manage Nav Data and Unit Profile. I have both versions of HumminbirdPC (2.5.8 and 3.0.26) installed on my PC. When I open HumminbirdPC I'm asked to "select operation" and it's one of the 4 operations that are mentioned above, no other options to view or operations to perform. ???

96720, you have to have the SD card with the downloaded files from your unit and put that in your computer. Bring up Humminbird PC and use the arrows that will show on the SD card symbol on the left side of the screen. One of those arrows loads the files from the SD card to the Humminbird PC program.
Then you can follow the instructions that Greg's link indicates.
There is a HELP tab on the top of the Humminbird PC panel if you need it.

Sounds like you are running the older version of HumminbirdPC (2.5.8) and you see this:

You need to start up the newer 3.1.8 version of HumminbirdPC to get this to work. You will need to download and install this newer version as it replaced both of the versions that you currently have installed.

Yup, that's what I'm seeing. Where can I find the newer 3.1.8 version? The ones I downloaded were from this forum. I'll check again. Thanks.

IF you registered your unit with Humminbird, that software version will be in your account. It is in mine and has been since 6/22/2010.

Yeah, thanks. Just logged back in and downloaded then "newer" version from the Humminbird site. Got the right screen and in the process of extracting my data. Thanks again.
