Title: Navionics Platinum
Post by: lancehale@austin.rr.com on September 19, 2010, 10:17:49 PM
I bought the platinum chip for my 998, I dont seem to find the 3D views for my lake here in Tx. Lake Travis and a few surrounding lakes. Ive been told to look at the birdseye view and zoom in but no luck.

What year model Platinum card are you using?

Do you know if Lake Travis and the other lakes are listed as being on the Platinum card that you have and that they have the 3D cartography as well?

Did your 998 show the Platinum menu tab when you inserted the Platinum card in it?  It should appear as the far right tab in the main menu system.

I would attach the Platinum Cartography Accessory Manual in case you did not get it but unfortunately it is too big to post in this way.  I would do a search of the web site to see if it is already posted elsewhere.

I am using the 2010 south card. I do see Lake Travis on this list on Hbirds site. I'll have to look for the tab tonight.

Thanks!

Found a lower resolution version of the Platinum Cartography operations manual.  It should be attached to this message.

If I have the Navionics Platinum software on a compact flash card from another unit, can I copy it to an SD card and use it on my 998?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris

No you cannot copy the Navionics Chips.

Navionics has protected these cards in such a way that they will self destruct and will not be covered under warranty.

In fact you must be careful when viewing on NavPlanner that you do not change anything on the chip.

A lot of us would like to play with these cards.
