Title: Does the Chart Speed affect distance calculations in HumViewer?
Post by: gobio on July 28, 2010, 10:11:54 AM
Hi.

Is it possible that a false Graphspeed/Chart speed make false distance display when i look the sonarlog in the Humviewer?

I drive with 3-4 mph and have a Graphspeed/chart speed of 4. What happens when i take 10?

Mirco,

I split this topic off from the SI Settings topic since it was a totally different question.

The chart speed does not affect the recording.  It is only a playback or realtime feature on the unit itself.

I am not sure if HumViewer uses the boat speed in its distance calculation or not.  I dont think so.  If you are recording at higher speeds, the objects will be smaller than actual size since the number of pings per foot is less.  And conversely, if you are going too slow, the images will be elongated and will measure longer than normal.

Hope that helps,

Robert

Hi.

Thanks for your answer and making a split of the topic.

It helps to understand it better and in the future i think i test it out.
